How Can a Brand New House Be Haunted, and Who Was the Little Girl? - by Lorena Marteva

My story takes place in a coastal village in Bulgaria. My parents had a house built in the village in 2003, originally just as a holiday home. At the time, the fact that the village graveyard was just a ten minute walk from the house never bothered us. The graveyard itself had a strange story surrounding it, though to this day I've never found out exactly what it was. Directly behind the graveyard there is a large hill with a dimple in the top. It's easy to see that it is 'man-made' ( I.e: someone has piled earth there, and the grass has grown over it). Whenever we asked anyone in the village about this hill, they became very vague and shifty, and mumbled something either about treasure, or the bodies of soldiers. Clearly there are two versions of the story! Anyway... In 2008, my parents decided to move permanently to Bulgaria to start a restaurant business, and we moved into the house to live full-time. I was 15 at the time. Almost straight away we began to notice odd things. Mostly it was just noises. We would be sitting downstairs and hear a creaking overhead as though someone was walking. We knew perfectly well no-one was up there. Other times we would hear a clatter from one of the bedrooms, as though something had fallen on the floor. I remember distinctly that I once heard something metal fall to the floor. It sounded like a deodorant can, or something similar, and the noise came from my room. When I got up there, nothing was on the floor, but my can of deodorant was in the middle of my dressing table, spinning slightly as though someone had just put it back there a bit carelessly. Then came the arrival of 'my silhouette', as I took to calling it. One night I turned over in bed to face the bedroom door, and it just seemed to materialise. It stood in the space between my door and my wardrobe. I understand if this is difficult to imagine, but it was darker than the total darkness around it. It was definitely human in shape, and seemed to be standing as though on guard. Gradually as I watched I could see that it shrank to a child's height, then rose up again to be almost the same height as my wardrobe, then back down. It did that all the while. Strangely, I did not feel scared. And I never did feel scared of it, all the nights after that. It was there every night without fail and I was convinced that it was protecting me. That's why it became 'my silhouette'. When I was about 17 I got a boyfriend, and eventually he came to live with us in our house. His family would sometimes come around to visit, and he had a little sister who was about four. Now, one sunny afternoon, I was suffering from a terrible migraine. I took some tablets and went to bed, but couldn't sleep. It was too late, and there were people being noisy in the hotel next our house. So I was just lying there with my face buried in the pillow trying to block out the light. All of a sudden, I heard my door creak open, and little footsteps walking into my room.Without raising my head from the pillow, I said 'who is it?'. A little voice answered, 'It's me, Kristiana'. I felt her weight on the bed as she sat down near my feet. 'Where's your mummy?' I asked, wondering why they'd let her come up here when they knew I wasn't well. 'Downstairs with my brother'. came the reply. 'Well, please go back downstairs to your mummy, Krisi. I'm really not feeling good'. And she left. I felt her get up and heard her footsteps again as she left the room. Later, in the evening, my boyfriend came to see how I was. I was a little better, and sat up and asked if his mum and sister were still here. I got a blank expression in reply. 'What?' 'Your mum and Krisi. Are they here still or did they go home?' 'Lorena... they haven't been here today, what are you on about?' 'But... Krisi was here, she was talking to me!' And I told him the whole story of what had happened. He just kept shaking his head more and more violently, and when I'd finished, he explained that his mother had been working all day in the city (a good half hour away by car) and that Krisi had been at nursery. It was impossible that they had been here. Absolutely and completely. He said I'd been dreaming, but I know I wasn't because it had been to light and noisy for me to sleep through my migraine. Was it a hallucination brought on by the migraine and the heat? Possibly, but mixed together with everything else the house was throwing at us, somehow I doubt it. And how is it that a house which even now is barely ten years old can be haunted? Does it have anything to do with the mysterious graveyard? Are there soldiers buried in the hill, and is it one of them that guards my door each night? So many questions...

Old House - by Anonymous

This is a really long story of my old house! Read if you want to, this is all true, About 10 years ago when I was seven years old, I used to live in an old brick house. I'd say it was probably built sometime during 1920's - 1930's. Anyway, there used to be a lady that lived there before my family and I moved in. But I heard that the lady that moved in died in a car crash. But we found out after awhile of living in the house. My siblings (I had 7 of them) and I moved into that house with our parents. Of course I was so young and I liked new things. But ever since we moved into the new house, strange things began to happen here and there. Also, my siblings played the Ouiji Board when we moved in too. This might have lead to these experiences. In my first experience, my little brother (5years old at the time) and I were put into time-out (I don't remember why) but we were put in our parent's room because they're room is small and there was only a bed and a closet and not really anything else in the room. As we sit there, I see something start to form under the blankets, like someone was actually under the blank. It crawled towards us and we tried to open the door to get out but it was stuck for some reason. As we banged on the door, the blanket came closer and closer. Finally it reached us and we were scared to the max. Then whatever was under the blanket, it had teeth and it started to gnaw on us. I didn't even know that was possible, but it probably bit me 3 or 4 times and suddenly the door was opened and whatever was under the blanket... wasn't under the blanket anymore. It was like something just disappeared like that. And i obviously didn't know how to explain it to anyone, I was 7. No one would believe kids. My next experience would be when I was sleeping with my youngest sister (11 years old at the time). My sister JUST turned out the lights. I was in the middle, my sister was on the right of me and there wasn't anyone on the left. I turned to my left side to keep myself comfortable and stretch my hand to that side. There were something soft. But then I realized that it was really long hair. It felt like my sister's hair but she was sleeping on the opposite side of be. As confused as I was, I thought maybe it was one of my sisters trying to scare me, or maybe my sister snuck in when we weren't looking. I told her to turn the lights on and she did. There was nothing there. I was so scared, i knew something was there but it just did not want to be seen. I told my sister I was going to sleep with my parents so I just left the room. We had a scream costume that my older brother would wear for Halloween. But everytime I saw it, something would not feel right. This one time my younger brother and I were playing games (Super Nintendo 64) and we were in the living room by ourselves, while everyone else was out of the house and my oldest brother (15 years old) was upstairs. As we enjoyed playing the games, we hear this "creek" come from our parents room. We looked, it had opened about 5 inches, but we were kids and we just went back to playing games. Then we heard it again, and in surprise, there was something standing behind the door. And as scared as I was, I also felt that something was not right. All of a sudden, it walked out. It was the scream costume and someone was wearing it, and for a second there, I thought it was my brother. But my brother would NEVER pull a prank on us. He was mature and I remember he was upstairs. It basically ran towards us, it had teeth, this was the thing that was chewed on me before. The atmosphere got really heavy. My brother and I was basically screaming and running around like crazy people. But then as my brother was walking downstairs to see what the fuss was about, whatever was in the scream costume, it ran back inside my parent's room. And I told my oldest brother to check and there was nothing in the room. The scream costume was in the closet and it looked like it was folded. My brother and I weren't the only ones experiencing these things. There was this one time where my family were in the living room and we were talking and watching movies and stuff. And my sister(18 years old) was going to go out and my mom got mad. My sister went upstairs. (To get upstairs, you have to go through the bathroom in order to get to the steps. So the kitchen connects to the bathroom which connects to the stairs, weird I know. There were two doors in the bathroom to the kitchen and the stairs.) And so as my sister walked upstairs, my mom locked my sister, from the bathroom, upstairs so she couldn't leave. So my sister was mad and she went to her room upstairs and my mom went back into the living room. Then after a while, I needed to use the bathrooom. And I was surprised it was locked and I was waiting for someone to come out. After about 15 minutes I knocked and told them to hurry. No answer. Another 5 minutes pass and everyone started to get concerned. Everyone started knocking and still, no answer. We basically had to break the door down to see if it was my sister that locked us out. But after breaking that door down, there was NO ONE in the bathroom. And to lock the bathroom, you have to lock it from the inside. My mom unlocked the door to the stairs and was surprise to see my sister sitting there waiting for the door to be unlocked. My second oldest sister (20 years old) has a sixth sense. She sees a lot of stuff in the house and can feel it better than any of us in the house. This one time she was sleeping upstairs, she awoken up to someone crying. She thought it had been my sister that was crying, but my sister was sleeping next to her sound asleep. She still heard crying and she wanted to see what it was. She got up and walked towards where the sound was coming from. It came from the window and she turned the corner and she saw someone sitting on the window ledge. She stood there in shock, the girl was wearing a white dress as she described it. She picked up this sad feeling/energy. She felt like something wasn't right either, and wondered who was sitting at the window. And then the girl jumped out the window, she ran back scared to her bed and sat there thinking for an explanation. I think that someone committed suicide there before we moved into the house. But we moved after about a year later and found a house with no strange things that happen. And to this day, we still haven't sold the house, but it's rented to this other family we know. My little cousin who is currently 12 years old, goes over and hangs out with her friend that lives there now and she says she sees stuff there all the time. But you know, there's not really anything we can do. These are just some experiences that I've had in the house. There are more unexplained phenomenons that happened as we continued to live in the house. Now, I'm 17 years old and I can remember these things like it was just yesterday. Now I know these things exist, it makes more sense now than back then when it happened. Also, remember the Ouiji Board I told you about earlier? That was probably also the key that lead to these weird experiences. Don't play it! Even if it's just for fun. You might unleashed something you might not have control over. Anyways hope you guys enjoyed my story! :)

Why I'm becoming a believer; my random "ghost" encounters. And who is the girl???? - by Lisa

When I was young my sister, cousins and I found my grandmother's antique, ouija board in an old trunk at our cottage. I can't remember specifics but I remember weird things would happen. We would try to summon our grandfather who had recently passed. When we asked for proof that the spirits were there, certain objects around the cottage would shake, like the TV. That's when my grandmother took the board away. Locked it up and hid it. But I got my parents to get me one. Again I don't remember specifics but I remember my friend and I "communicating" with some spirits who started off being nice but I remember them getting angry, and again things would rattle and shake. We didn't play it much after that. I have always been really easily spooked/startled. I always see glimpses of someone there in my peripheral, otherwise. I would turn around and seen someone, being scared as hell, but when I looked again they would be gone. I have had a few moments of certainty that something is in fact there and that I remember vividly. Once I was sitting on my porch when I was young, probably around 7. I was looking across the road at my friends house. I saw this young woman, probably around 18 and she had long, blonde beautiful hair, very pale complexion, a long white dress almost like a nightgown. She was just sitting there, smiling at me and rocking in the rocking chair. I didn't feel scared per se, maybe just a bit uneasy (not like other times I have seen glimpses of something or someone). I looked away, looked back at her and she was gone and the rocking chair had stopped rocking. I can slightly recall something happening like this before but not confident enough to say. I'm now 27 and a few weeks ago I saw the young girl again. I went to a ski resort with my bf and his family. One night I woke up from a nightmare and being really scared I didn't want to close my eyes, and go back to sleep. I looked over to my side and standing in the bathrooms doorway was the young girl, looking just as she did 20 years ago. She was standing there just staring at me. I wasn't scared or uneasy at all this time, in fact quite the opposite, I felt a calming sensation. I looked away, I looked back, and she was gone and I drifted off to sleep; which is not something that comes easily for me. I have no idea who this girl may be or what she might represent to me but it has to have some sort of significance, no? Now, something off topic but on. My bf and I like to go to this certain steak house, for dinner. Twice that I've been there, in a row, I have tripped down the stairs in the exact same spot, in the exact same way. I found it quite strange but figured it was a coincidence. So this last time we were there (which was the second time I tripped on the stair), we were upstairs at the bar waiting for our table to be ready. There was a couple beside us, they got up and left, but the girl left her purse there. I couldn't believe she so easily left her purse to the point that I was ragging on her to my bf about it. We were then called to our table. We went downstairs, I was still going on about that lady leaving her purse and how could she not be more careful. Then I overheard the waiter talking to the table beside us. He was giving them the history of this steak house(it's an old mansion). I heard him tell them that the young woman who lived there died in her bedroom, which is now the women's washroom. I thought it was interesting what he was saying but didn't think anything odd about it. Then a few minutes after that I went to get my phone out of my purse and realised my purse wasn't with me. My bf went and checked upstairs at the bar and lo and behold it was there. I left it in the exact same spot as the last girl did. I couldn't believe it. I went home and googled the steakhouse. I then come to find out, it's on the top of the list of haunted houses in Canada. A lot of people have claimed that a lot of weird things have happened to them in the women's washroom (which is where the woman died). Also the maid hung herself at the top of the staircase and apparently people have claimed to see a little boy playing on the stairs as well as looking down at people eating their dinners. I'm now convinced it was the little boy who tripped me on the stairs both of those times and who knows about the purses; also a weird happenstance. I was thinking, I want to get my old ouija board and see if I can figure out who this girl is that I've seen now a couple of times in my life, as now I am starting to experience other things that are making me more of a believer.
